Guinness Energy

Guinness Original contains 36000 calories per 100ml – just over half the energy content of Lucozade Energy, but over a quarter more than Lucozade Sport. It contains less than half the amount of carbohydrate that Lucozade Sport contains, but has a higher calorie content because of the alcohol (which provides almost double the amount of calories as carbohydrate does) and the tiny amount of protein.

I am currently writing to Guinness to try to persuade them to release a GUINNESS® ACTIVE ENERGY drink (or GUINNESADE® SPORT), which would contain less alcohol but much more carbohydrate – maybe 7 grams per 100ml – and a bit more protein. The perfect post-cycling drink. For some reason they don’t seem interested, but I will keep writing. I’ll stick to Courierade for now. Watch this space.
