Eco friendly bike – future of green transport
June 27, 2008I wish I had thought of this:

The guy is a genius and is going to be rich – what a sound concept:
- super cheap – no need to shell out a massive £50-£100 for a proper second hand bike. thus making it more accessible to poor people.
- disposeable. forget expensive repair bills, just throw away and buy a new one. compared to a real bike this makes it less expensive in the short-term
- recyclable. steel isn’t recyclable. cardboard is. therefore making bikes out of cardboard is more environmentally friendly.
- biodegradeable – so when it snaps when you’re doing 25 down a hill, you can just shred it and bury it in the compost heap – that is, once you get out of hospital.
- flammable. if you’re so poor that you can’t afford a proper bike, then you’re probably too poor to put money in your electricity meter. this bicycle acts as a handy source of cooking fuel if you end up running out of emergency meter money.
If this isn’t some sort of rubbish hoax, then the geezer needs to come up with some better ideas. I’ve got a better idea for example. Build bikes out of steel so that they last a long time. Steel is recyclable. Steel is strong. Steel can fairly easily be re-welded if broken. Oh, hang on, some genius already had that fucking idea!!!
His university’s website says:
“The 21-year-old hopes that his work will be taken on by a company who can see the bike’s potential as a green marketing gimmick.”
Need I say more?
You’re being ironic, aren’t you?
That thing is fug, man. I can’t see this taking off in any lasting way.
Not be ridden in rain, or wind, or…ever.
For max effect, set it ablaze while riding back from teh pub!
